I left my GPS plugged into the accessory jack and the Mach sat in the garage for over two weeks without starting. Well, the battery is totally dead this morning. I was trying to decide whether to trickle charge at 2 amps or quick charge at 10 amps. I Googled the Internet and of course found differing opinions. The majority said it is best to trickle charge back to life. But one site said due to the differing brands of batteries it is best to ask your mechanic. My 04 Mach 1 still has the factory battery, a Motorcraft. The Mach has a build date of March 24th, 2004, so the battery has been in service 5 years and 9 months. Anyway I’m going to try the trickle charge at 2 amps and see how much longer the battery will hang in there.

Has anyone every “asked their mechanic” about the best method to recharge?
I would use a low AMP setting for a 24H charge.

+1 I agree with Mach 1 Guy. Or just replace the battery :) Id rather have a brand new battery all the time instead of dieing over the GPS used out of it. Seems to me it might have been weak before that happened. Sorrydontknow
Thought I would update! I decided to replace the original battery with another Motorcraft battery. I paid a little more for the Motorcraft at the Ford dealer than buying a generic battery from Autozone, Sears, or Walmart, but I wanted to keep the stock look under the hood since I put the 04 Mach in shows. The Motorcraft BXT-59-540 does have a 36 month free replacement and 100 month prorated.
