I BOUGHT A 1972 Q CODE MACH TO PART OUT, BUT STARTED TO TEAR THE WRECKED QUARTER OFF & SEEN HOW CLEAN IT REALLY IS. SO CHANGED MY MIND. I'M GONNA FIX IT NOW & NEED HELP TO SAVE IT FROM CERTAIN DOOM. IN SEARCH OF A RUST FREE MUSTANG TO HELP WITH SAVING THE CAR.
WELCOME.

Glad to have you with us. You're right, the car looks like it is worth saving. New inner/outer quarter, new light panel, new roof section and maybe a door and fender. The door and fender and outer quarter will be pretty easy to come up with. There is a whole roof section floating around somewhere for sale.

Where are you generally located? There is a whole car for sale in southern New Mexico that might fit the bill.

I am not sure that Don from http://www.ohiomustang.com/store/item_li...cid=3&sc=y

will have any rust free panels but he will be a great help with accessories you will need.

Keep us posted with your headway. Take lots of pictures. Biggrin
Yes...this car can be restored back. Have you done this type of work before?
When I see something like that I would not know where to start. Of course, I havent touched a car in a month and already I am having withdraws lol. I at least got my hands on a turbine engine yesterday and replaced a component on that. Good luck on your rebuild-up. I applaud you for saving the mustang. Can't wait to see your upcoming progress with more pictures maybe :)
yes i have been working on cars since in diapers .i own pontiac auto body in pontiac il.im gona make this car perfect as soon as i can find a doner car .cant wait to get her on the road

Hey Oldmedal, Is Pontiac Still a wide spot in the road? I live in Arkansas now, but I'm originally from Kankakee. Haven't lived up there in about 30 years. Alot has changed and some things probably never will. Good Luck finding a Body. I've got three of them and only one of them is solid. The other 2 came from around Indy, and have no floors to speak of. But I got lots of parts. I hope enough to build one complete car. 578254 JTS 71 Mach1
Looks like it's worth saving and sounds like it is in good hands with all your experience.

Keep us posted on the progress.
Yes, it sounds like the car is in good hands...I am sure you will have no problem locating a donor car. I see quite a few of these cars on e-bay in varying degrees of condition (i.e., rust bucket to show car).

How rust free are you looking for?
Just rolling shell or with doors fenders etc.
Whats your budget?
That big tweek in the roof worries me. The unibody from the looks of things is probably pretty bent up. You got to keep it in prospective unless there is sentiment or long time ownership in the equation. There is no way you can fix that car and come out on top at this point.
