Here it goes:

I have a pertronix magnetic pick-up unit in my distributor. The tachometer does not work. It was suggested that I pick up the MSD 8920 Tach Adapter unit and than my tach would work.
The instructions show it running through an MSD 6AL. I do not have the 6AL installed. Is there a way to use the MSD8920 with the pertronix? If so, how do you wire it in to the system.

Thanks in advance for any and all information.

I don't think the Pertronix would negatively affect your tach if hooked up properly. I have a pertronix in my 67 gt with the tach and it works fine. Have you reviewed the pertronix install specific to a tach? I do not have any of my information handy, but that is what comes to mind with me?
I experienced inaccurate tachometer readings when I installed a MSD electronic ignition with a 6AL box in my 65 Mustang. The fix was to install the MSD tach adapter.

It is my understanding you must use a tachometer that supports both a standard and electronic ignition set-up. If your tach does not then you may require the adapter. If your current tach does support an electronic ignition then you may want to refer back to the set-up instructions. Some of the older tachometers support only a standard ignition set-up as was my case.

Hope this is helpful.
The pertonix was in the distributor when I bought the car. I will look online to see if there is something there. Thanks
