It was tough to do but I sold my 65 coupe to possibly buy the pony I've been looking for. I found a 1970 Mach 1 at a fair price($7,000) so I sent my nephew down to possibly pick it up. I'm taking a chance because I've already sold my coupe and am not sure if the Mach is worth the price. The guy had limited pictures so I'm trying to read as much as possible from what I have. It looks fairly complete, other than marker lights, from what I can see. It is supposed to run and is a 351 C auto.

I'm not sure about the color. I was told it is a C code which is Dark Ivy Green Metallic. I'm not thrilled about the color but some can grow on you. The hood scoop looks to be white so I'm wondering if it had the "white stripes" option? In any case I finally got my 70 Mach 1 again, if it passes my nephews inspection.

Here is all I've got to go by. My nephew is headed down this morning to look it over and possibly buy.

Very definetly limited on pics. Doesn't look to bad from what you can see, but it sure leaves a lot of questions? Hope your nephew looks hard at it. Cause you always find a million things after you get one home. That you somehow missed on the first inspection. Good Luck. JTS 71 Mach1
I feel your pain, I let my65 coupe go recently that I miss dearly. The car doesn't look too bad in the pictures but here are some tips for checking out the car before purchasing it:

Have your nephew bring a magnet and check the car for previous sub-par body work (i.e., bondo). Bondo is perfectly acceptable to take out minor imperfections but should not be used to fill large rust holes. The magnet should detect this.

Second, have him inspect the front and rear frame rails, cowl, floor, trunk floor, bottom of doors, and torque boxes for signs of rust. These areas are prone to rust.

Inquiry with the owner about the history of the and any known accidents. Check the body panels for proper alignment (quarter panels, doors, fenders). Although very hard to see in your pictures, the right side of the hood looks a little high. Most likely this can be adjusted but these are the types of panel alignment things you want to look for.

Finally, test drive the car (if possible) to provide some insight of the car's mechanical soundness (i.e. brakes, alignment, transmission noises, engine knocks, smoke, etc.).

As a guideline, I recently paid almost $7k for a high optioned 69 Mach One "S" code. It has some rust issues in the rear quarter panels and cowl but the frame rails are solid and the car was complete.

I hope this information is useful and good luck. Please keep us posted.

Hopefully it checks out OK. Is your nephew a car guy?

Where are you located- I have a pair of Dynacorn full quarter panels on clearance
Don
At least it has been sitting under some cover.

Hopefully all checks out to your liking both with your nephew and once you actually see it.

Keep us in the loop.
