Has anyone replaced their roof rail weather stripping in a 69-70 Mustang fastback? I own a 70 Mach 1 that I bought new. I wanted to replace these rubber moldings because of aging. The Mustang parts suppliers advertise these items as "original Ford tooling" and exact fit. I have tried several different pairs and none of them fit like the originals. The problem is at the door jamb and side flip out window area. The rubber isn't molded properly. The new moldings don't fit well at the end where it screws to the door jamb. The original molding is much thicker and shaped different for a much better fit when the door closes. The new weather strips leave a hole big enough to put my finger in. Also, these new molding don't extend far enough to trim out the interior fiber glass side panels. I have tried everything, and there is still a gap between the rubber molding and the interior panel. I called around and was told Daniel Carpenter makes all of these parts and sells them to other so called manufacturers, who sell them under different name brands. I just think it's too bad that these companies can't do a better job when it comes to making parts for the classic Mustang. They sure know how to take your money!
It is absolutely frustrating at times.

Have you spoke with Don Witt at Ohio Mustang Supply?

Don is not only a supplier but has a lot of hand on experience with what he sells. He always seems to know which part is the best for the money and the tricks needed to install each item.
I bought mine off ebay and they fit nicely. Laurel Mustang.Sorry Don was before I tried you.
There is none made off the original tooling

DCMR is the best one - USA made - closest you can get, was MCA approved - when the MCA use to do that.
I've sold many with very few complaints.

I purchased the last set of weather strips from Virginia Classic Mustangs. That was at least two years ago. They are made by DC and VCM said they were the best on the market. Did DC improve these since then? I'll send you photos and emails from DC Gary Davis. I don't know how to post to this forum. My brother has a 1970 Shelby GT 350 with the factory original roof rail weather stripping and it looks different and fits better than the DC parts. I through my original in the burn pile. Should have kept them. [Image: ?cid=7984faea2cde2566&id=7984FAEA2CDE256...&sc=Photos]

The only other thing you can try is to find and buy an NOS set

I did look for a set, but no luck so far. Know of any for sale? I thought about modifying the DC RRWS so they would fit better. I'm in no hurry.

Just an update on the roof rail rubber weather strips. I never did find an NOS set for a fastback. Lots of NOS hardtop moldings around. I did talk with several Mustang restoration shops and they told me there are no good reproduction moldings for a 69-70 fastback. They have tried gluing the jamb end of the original weather strip onto a new repo piece. They said it works, but it's difficult to do. It would be nice if the repo manufacturers would spend a little more time on these parts and make them correct.
