I always loved the first ride in a fresh hot rod. Even if there's some troubles. It's invigorating just to get it on the road, sort through things, and drive it like you stole it! Enjoy!

Seems a little pathetic, but I backed it out of the garage so I could have some space to drop the attic ladder for the cable guy.  He was duly impressed, however.

Any reason to start the Mach 1 is good enough!

After racking my brain trying to figure out how to adapt the Sanden compressor as part of my Classic Auto Air Perfect Fit HVAC system to a factory idler pulley (which, the CAA system didn't come with one - another story), I poked around the Classic Auto Air website, venturing into the Original Air side and found the piece I need.

I wasn't happy with the suggestion from CAA to simply get a bigger belt and include the A/C compressor on the power steering circuit, so I'd bought a factory idler pulley set-up from a friend at 7173Mustangs, and have been waiting for the heat to break to work on getting the A/C bracketry completed so I can have cold air in the car.  Ironic... I get it.

Suffice it to say, I found what I was looking for, and it should be here in time for my pal Dave to show up at the end of September to get a few things finished up (A/C and hopefully, Edelbrock E-Street Fuel Injection).

Looks like a very simple bracket to modify and work with the original Ford bracketry. Looks good. and should work perfectly. It's tough finding these kind of pieces, I usually end up making them.

When I was wondering how I was going to make it all happen after I scored the factory idler bracketry, I was flipping through my inspiration pics and saw the one I just posted... then the light bulb went on.  It is indeed so simple, I was planning on just making one for myself.  But then I realized that the Auto Hobby Shop, while it's back open for business and I've used it quite a bit for oil changes and whatnot, has effectively been neutered since the days while I was restoring the Mustang - the entire welding shop has been closed and is now a storage area for Arts & Crafts supplies for the other side of the building, with the major tools (welders, torches, media blaster, drill press, hydraulic presses, brake lathe, etc.) either being turned in as excess or repurposed at the Transportation maintenance facility.  Sad days. Since I relied on the shop for all the big things I needed to do, I never really fully equipped my garage to be a somewhat functional shop... I don't even have a vise, let alone a drill press or a torch. My bad... although, I think I'm past needing to do major things requiring such a well-equipped work space.

Initially, I was planning on just getting some bar stock and duplicating the piece, but for only $28 (+ shipping) it comes with all the bends and holes in the right places, along with all the hardware.  Call me lazy, or maybe just older, but it seemed like a deal to me.


Now I just wish I could find that Monte Carlo bar.  That's Sweet!

I am with you, the $28 to buy one is well worth your time and effort of making one.  In regards to the Monte Carlo bar, that would pretty easy to customize.  I would just buy a black Monte Carlo bar and cut it and extend it with the same diameter pipe to the desired length and offset.  Then weld it up and grind it down. Then if you could have it chromed if that is the look you are chasing. If you don't have a welder there is usually a local shop or muffler shop that can weld it up for you.

Cleaned the ever-livin' sh.. out of it today.  My favorite annual car show is tomorrow (sponsored by the Air Force base) - plus, my pal Dave came to visit from Phoenix with his spankin' new '18 5.0 GT.  We're going to park 'em next to each other and sit around swappin' stories with a bunch of other cool car guys and some old military friends.  Can't wait!

Sounds like a great time!  Looking forward to see some pictures.  I was stationed at Barbers Point HI. in the late 80's.  I remember I guy in my squadron by the name of Brian Sparks who had his 68 Camaro shipped all the way to HI.  I always remembered that car since you didn't see too many of muscle cars on island. I remember being around that car took some of my home sickness away. Good times in the USN!
