Hey all, I'm new to the forums and to cars in general so please forgive what I assume is a basic question. I've seen engines listed as 351 2bbl or 351-2V. Is that referring to the same thing or different parts?
Hi and welcome to the site. 2bbl and 2V means two barrel carb. 4bbl and 4V means four barrel carb. Hope this helps
2bbl and 4bbl (barrel) is the same as 2V and 4V. Carburetors use venturi to mix the fuel with the air as the air is drawn into the engine. A 2bbl/2V carburetor will have 2 venturi while a 4bbl/4V carburetor will have 4 venturi. A 4V carburetor can mix more fuel with the air drawn into the engine thus more horsepower.
Hope this helps.
That's about the sum of it - well said.

The first photo is of the bottom side of an old spread bore Holley 4V or 4 bbl while the second photo is of an original 1971 Mustang 2V or 2bbl..
Just to add a little confusion, you will also see talk about 2v & 4v heads Biggrin
