There is perhaps no car more iconic representative of the end of the muscle car era than the 1973 Ford Mustang Fastback. Without question one of the most recognizable automotive marquees the world over, the first generation Mustang from 1965 to 1973 remains to this day at the top of a short list of most desirable and collectable cars of all time.

This very handsome and uncommon 1973 Ford Mustang is an amazingly well kept example of this final production year Mustang. Finished in bright red with black accent stripes and boasting a very clean black vinyl interior, this great looking car is truly a rare find and is well equipped with features such as: “Q” code 351 Cleveland “Cobra Jet” 266 HP V-8 4 BBL engine - VIN:3F02Q24xxxx, C6 automatic transmission, bucket seats with center console, power disc brakes, power steering, Kenwood AM/FM audio system, front and rear spoilers, gorgeous chrome Magnum 500 wheels with brand new Goodrich TA Radial tires, air induction hood, dual side mirrors.

Thanks for posting the pics; nice looking Fastback (or Sportsroof as called by Ford), but I noticed a few inconsistancies from using it as a "well kept example".

The car is a repaint that could have used a little more attention to detail as you can see overspray on the door latch and some other places.

The black out on the hood should not be that glossy (normally if you have the NASA style hood you would have the Decor style Grill as an option, but hood could have been ordered this way without the optional grill). The 73 NASA Hoods came with the black out as an option with with twist-type locking hood pins. The basic NASA hood was all body colored and did not have the locking hood pins. This hood was probably all body color when new with the black out added later since the hood pins are not there.

The Magnum 500 wheels were not offered on the 73's; Ford used a special design for the 73 Mustangs (I think they may have used the same style on the Torino's also).

Mustang badging gone on trunk lid and front fenders.

All the stock rear valance's I've seen with factory dual exhaust usually have cut-outs for the dual exhaust (not 100% sure on this one).

Racing mirrors should be body color.

Body tape stripes are not factory design. Looks like a modified Mach 1 stripe is used on sides and trunk. A different style non-Mach 1, mid-body stripe was offered as an additional option only if the car was ordered with Decor Group (black grill, lower body black or argnet side paint with bright chrome moulding). This car does not have the Decor Group.

I also fairly certain that style of Fuel cap was not offered in 1973.

Nice looking Sportsroof and I wouldn't kick it out of my driveway, but not a good example of a stock one. Looks like someone modified it to their taste which is fine. Again, I'm not being critical of the car, I just would not want someone to think this is how a stock Sportsroof would look and use it as an example if they are restoring theirs.

Thanks again for posting the pics.

I just show prime examples of quality looking cars here, if we wanted to be real critical its not a Mach either, but it sure is perty! :)
I agree it's pretty much a 73 sportsroof with the plain (not deluxe) interior. Also - the black on the hood extends too far to the front lip. Based upon all the other consitencies I have to wonder if it's an original CJ car. A quick look at the VIN or underneath to see if it has the staggered rear shocks would be the give away.
