My dad and I just got our 1970 Mach 1 yesterday (my birthday!) after waiting over a month. I posted the pics of it earlier when we won the bid, but here they are again http://desert-autosport.ebizautos.com/de...62007.html . I would post more, but it came in a night and the photos aren't really worth posting. I'll get better pictures once it gets nicer.

Along with the car are all the receipts from the full restoration in 2004/2005. Pretty much everything was gone through and restored/replaced including a stockish engine rebuild (bored/honed, performance valve job, etc).

Two things need to be done in order to get it inspection ready. First off we couldn't get the horn to blow (it has the rim blow wheel). We aren't sure if this is actually a fault, or we are just idiots who don't have never had a rim blow before.

The other problem is with the turn signal. The signals do not flash, but the brake light on the side that should be flashing dims. This leads us to believe that the switch works, but the flasher itself it shot. Does that make sense?

Also, the car stalled quite a bit before it warmed up (automatic trans), and even when warm it still didn't want to rev quickly. We think this is just due to it sitting for quite some time, and being tuned for Phoenix, not Buffalo (it was about 30 degrees last night, but we haven't had snow on the ground for a week or so).

I look forward to hearing what you guys think, and taking it out for a drive once it warms up a bit!

Glad you finally received your 70. Looking forward to seeing more pictures.

The turn signal issues almost sounds like a grounding problem, but could be the flasher. Did you try comparing the dimness when putting the brakes on?

Probably want to check the horns first before tearing into the rim blow. Just unplug the horns wiring harness and run jumper wires directly to the horn end of the harness to see if they work.

Good luck and keep us up to date on your Mach 1 experiences.
Congratulations on receiving the Mach 1! Enjoy.

Rare Pony's advice sounds right on. Let us know how it goes.
I only noticed the dimness when the brake lights were on (the car was braking, not just running lights). I can't say that it wasn't there when the signal was supposed to be on without braking, it just didn't catch my eye.

As for the horn, I think we just weren't doing it right. My dad kept trying to press the center of the pad, he didn't know what I was talking about when I said it was a rim blow. Next time I am home I will sit in the car and try to figure it out.
Congrats on your car looks great. Would have to agree sounds like a ground issue on the light.

Try a new voltage regulater after making sure that the ground wires are ok and that the wires have raw steel under the connectors for good contact. That should possibly solve the dimming problem.SCo_hmmthink

If the company that sold you the car guaranteed the operation of all instruments and signals for passing state safety testing , then I would send them the bill if you have to take it in.
Well, I would assume that the dimming is the turn signal switch functioning, we just need to find out why it doesn't actually flash. And we bought it at auction, so no warranty or guarantees. My dad and I will figure it out ourselves, it was just something that we weren't expecting to have to do.
Not to be a smart azz or anything but first lesson in electricity is path of least resistance.check grounds first off cant flash if bulb isnt making contact.Check with an ohm meter from ground to bulb ground i have a wiring diagram posted on here to help you out.Good luck.and hope you enjoy your stang as much as I do.
