Looking to replace the older style bulbs for side marker, tail light (1157 bulb), etc. I've seen LED's listed in NPD, CJ Pony Parts and many of the other catalogs but they are quite expensive. I've also seen the 1157's on EBAY for MUCH cheaper. So my question is; Is there anything special about the 1157 tail light bulbs that would not let me utilize the cheaper one's off of EBAY?

Yeah, those led 1157 lamps are expensive. Priced them at a local napa store for $16. For me, theres way too many of them to make it an affordable upgrade and I have never had problems with heat from those lamps. Also I was told that if turn signal lamps are replaced with led the flasher model needs to be replaced as well.

I would however, like to replace the interior dome light with an led, that thing puts out some heat.

The only experience I have with the LED's tail light bulbs is on the 98 Mustang GT Convertible that I had. I bought some at Wal Mart on a great clearance sale, I believe they were 2057's. Anyway, when I installed them they kept blowing the fuse so I ended up returning them to the store.

I did buy a bulk pack of regular 197 bulbs off of eBay. They must have been factory seconds, because they did not last long as they kept blowing out soon after installing them.

After that, I bought some 197 LED's off of eBay for my 73 Convertible dash lights. They have been in there several years now and seem to be working fine. If I can find the name of the eBay seller that I bought mine from I will post it up.
