I have a 73 Mach1 which has an upgraded MSD ignition, cooling fans, aftermarket stereo (double din/nav/etc) and now (after adding electric fans) I'm having charging issues and the famous stereo cutting out symptoms :-(

I'd like to upgrade the alternator to a 140amp or higher, any suggestions? A friend suggested this: http://shop.mean-green.com/1978-66-MUSTA...078-B3.htm

If going with a "one-wire" alternator upgrade, what issues await me? I've heard mention of the amperage gauge needing to be disconnected and some wires capped in the engine bay any help would be appreciated.

(Keep in mind I'm a newbie when it comes to the Mach 1, this is my first)

Definitely a good and needed upgrade.

There are quite a few "How-to" articles floating around on the Internet with this upgrade in mind. Here is one that a quick search located: http://www.fordmuscleforums.com/electric...nator.html

A lot of the companies that sell the upgrade send directions with their packages. Just follow the steps and it should be a easy self-learning experience for you.
