Has anyone ever seen a dash tag like this on a 69 Mach 1, or one like this period? The VINs in the other locations (door tag, buck tag, inner fenders) match, but this looks too shiny to me to be original. I've never seen a chrome one like this. Maybe it's polished aluminum. Maybe it's a repo?
Interesting! I've never seen one like that.
I'm pretty sure the dash tags were stainless steel and painted black.
I know a bunch of the 71-3's I've have were stainless
Don
I have several that have been clean off to a shine. The black is a decal that can be reapplied several mustang vender have them,

So when shined do they look like the one above?

Talked to the guy at datatags.com and he said one of the plants in 69 made a polished stainless dash tag stamped from the front, similar to my picture, so may be original.

He said the other plant(s) did stainless with a black finish stamped from the back for that year, but didn't remember which plant did which. Interesting.

This is a Dearborn car, so maybe Dearborn did them polished like that.

Yes. it would,it just means that someone cleaned the windshield with steelwool and took of the paint. Both my 67 and mach have some of the black on them and my 68 cj has been wipe so many times it shines. I think Marti may make the decal.
