alright i have a question, did a 1973 mach 1 have a fixed spoiler with a third tail light? I bought this mach 1 that i know that at some point was peaced together. it was painted the factory red(you can open the trunk and still c the edge of the striping) the front bumper and the rear spoiler are the same color blue. any thoughts? will post a pic later tonight
Sounds like an aftermarket upgrade. How about posting a picture; that would be interesting to see!
Glad to see you post again Joe!

Like has all ready been mentioned - the third brake light is an after market add on. I think if I was to incorporate a third brake light and I don't think that it is such a bad idea, I would use one of those strip lights and cut it into the spoiler.

I happened to notice that there are a lot of things that seem to be encroaching your Mach 1's territory. Be careful that they don't attack it and leave some damage. Biggrin
Thanks for adding the picture. Definitely looks aftermarket; probably a separate piece from the spoiler.

Looks like you have an earlier year gas cap too!
I used one of the LED bars and added to the top of my louvers. When I'm driving down the road, it is mounted. When I get to car shows, I can disconnect and remove it during the show.
CHMSL ( Center High Mounted Stop Lamp) became mandatory in the US beginning in the '85 model year. They were available aftermarket for a couple years before that.
No original Mustang ( or even a Mustang II) ever came with one OEM.

If you read my post, you'd see that I added the LED bar to the spoiler for driving down the road (mainly for safety). I can also take the light bar off for some of the car shows/judges. Yes, it is aftermarket. I never said it was OEM.

Yeah, I was just posting general info...I did not mean to infer that you claimed it was original. Sorry.
