Hey Guys, I need your help once again. My temp and oil gauges are not working. The fuel alt and other gauges work perfect. replaced both senders (told the parts guy with gauges)still nothing.. Grounded the sender connectors gauges move. What now???SCo_hmmthink
Here is an article on trouble shooting gauges from Mustang Monthly I saved. Maybe it will help.

Sounds like a sender issue then.
I talked to one of the tech guys at cj ponyparts, He asked if I had a factory tach, I told him no he said the senders are different from a non-tach and a tach cluster. Then he said the it could be the cvr on the back of the cluster, I told him the fuel gauge works fine but he insisted that it could be the crv because (in his words) they get "funky" when they start to go bad. Does anyone here know if this is true about them being different senders? and if the are how does someone tell them apart from each other?A110103_confused_prv
I finally got the temp gauge working. I replaced the sender 3 times and finally got one that works. It does matter what sender you use, I had been telling the parts guy w/o auto temp control, so I took a gamble and put one in w/ auto temp control and it started working. I have replaced the oil sender twice but still nothing. I am thinking of going aftermarket.
I had strange things happeng with gauges at one time, and a very wise man said to check your ground. I found that the strap from the motor to the body bad, replace and everything fell in to place, how is yours?
I don't remember if I put a ground strap on the engine or not. If not I'll put one on see if that helps.
I checked the ground strap looked fine but I replaced it anyway, still nothing. I'm thinking the cvr is not working properly. The reason is the temp gauge is working but when it gets to operating temp it reads about 3/4 to hot. It does not boil over runs great just reads closer to hot then I prefer. I have a 160 thermostat in it. I guess I'll change the cvr and see if that cure the problem otherwise I'm lost.......SCo_hmmthink
