This is definitely a trouble spot on the 69 Mach 1 so this post should be a great asset to all who go this way.

Interesting....I just dont understand the reason for the procedure with reverse gear. To me it just seems unneccessary....put it into reverse, then pull it back to neutral??
I have done this adjustment numerous times but I always just disconnect all the linkage rods, line up all the shifter levers, put the 1/4" rod through, make sure the gearbox is in neutral and then adjust and re-attach the linkage rods.
I might give this a go and see if it make any difference to my shifter woes.
BTW - thanks for finding and posting this. Nice to know you are thinking of us 69 4-speed owners!
