I istalled the roofrail channel and weatherstripping on the dr. side and now the door will not close properly. I adjusted the door so the gap is the same all the way around but it still contacts the seal well before the door is closed. If memory serves me right I believe the hinges are back as far as the will go. Any suggestions on how to correct this annoying problem?SCo_hmmthink
You are farther along than I am Hopefully some will be along and help you out.
SCo_hmmthink Two thoughts come to mind is the weather seal the same shape as the old? and did you install it in the correct direction? The higher edge should be to the outside. Some times on new door seals if everything is correct, and there is not something wedging the door or hinges. It is simply the rubber is thicker/denser then the original and the best you can do is make sure all is clear and forcibly shut the door and leave it shut for a couple days until the rubber takes a set. If all seems right this may be the best you can do. JTS 71 Mach1
I had no problems when I was installing the roofrail seals however, when i put the door seals on the doors became harder to shut, much like you said. But much like one of the other guys said you may just need to shut it and let it set. It will get better, mine did. Hope that helped a little.

Here is a link to a thread I started about the length of the weatherstrip, but I did not have any problems with the door closing. The new weatherstrip did give it a nice firm feel, like a new car, when closing the door, but no problems other than being too long. Good luck!

Any Tips on Installing Door Weatherstrip
I spoke on the phone with Robert today.

We are wondering if it matters that the doors are from a coupe and not actually from a Mach 1 fastback.

Would the weather stripping be different? If he bought weather stripping for a Mach 1 and put it on coupe doors does this matter? Are there any differences in the doors?

Thought Id throw some of this out there for him as he seemed a little frustrated.

I was told by a vendor the weatherstrip was the same for coupes, sportsroof, and convertible, but thats not the gospel. Maybe check my pictures in the thread I posted above and see if he installed in the same position.
