Hey guys:

Here is what I bought with this car last fall.
It already had these wheels on it when I got it.

When I first got it home I noticed the following:

The front end of the car was way too low and the outside edge of the tires seemed to make slight contact with the fender when turning the wheels each direction.
I found that it had a 1"inch lowering set of springs on it so I put on the original springs and original shocks to raise it.
It still seems 1/2 inch too low on the drivers side front.

Im wondering if the frame is out of whack?

Any how.....I was wondering what is the maximum sized wheels you can go with for off-set measurements and not have any touching of the tires at all on any part of the car no matter if turning or going over bumps in the road?
As I remember on my old 1970 Mach 1 I believe it had 14 inch rims?? Is that right? With maybe F-70x14 tires???

What are you guys running ????....and....... What helped you to decide to go that way on your wheels choice?

Here is a thread with the original specs for a 70 Mach 1. Looks like the stock tire was E70/14.

The 70 Sportsroof I had came with optional F70/14's, here is the window sticker on it:

Awesome charts;
Thanks for the recomendations.

I am tired of having every fender making tire contact.

Biggrin
I am running 14X7 rims with P215/70R14 BF Goodrich Radial T/A's. They were sopost to be close in size to the F70 14's that were original. They wont rub a fender LOL They are VERY thin.

The problem I have is that my new front disks are 14inch rotors as part of the vintage venom 4 wheel brake kit.

I am not sure that 14 inch wheels will fit over them at all but I am not positive.

WOW!

Hum... does Vintage Venom give any suggestions as to rim size?

Are you sure they're not 13" rotors? If they are, you will need 17" wheels. They're probably designed to use '94 to '04 Mustang wheels. If they're 14" you will need 18" wheels.

I'm running 17 x 9 wheels at all 4 corners, but I'm also using Wilwood spindles rather than stock so I can fit everything under the wheel well. There's enough room to fit a P275 tire without rubbing if you set it up correctly.
Vintage Venom offers no sugestions as I have not asked just yet.

Yes they are 14 inch rotors.....suposedly off of a 2003 Cobra brake kit.
This is why I currently have the 2000 Cobra 17 inch wheels with 245 /45/17 tires.
It looks cool as hell, but the rubbing is too much.....just by a hair.

I have even considered sending them to a custom wheel manufacturer and having the back space increased by a full inch to make them fit because I like the wheels. That would be a cool grand or more Ill bet.
try a wheel from an '05 up Mustang as they have more backspacing. there are lots of styles to choose from. I couldn't see paying for custom wheels that look like a stock wheel just to get more backspacing, but that's just me and my wallet.
