Hi Everyone, I own a 71 Mach 1 351C, I will post pictures at a later date. I am currently working on my suspension, tires and rims. If anyone has any input I would welcome it. I currently have 14" rims on it but I was thinking of going to 16" X 8", has anyone done this? and what type and size tires did you install? Flattop
Welcome Flattop. I went with 15x8 on my 72 Mach 1. Also had the Torque Thrust II Wheels. Unfortunately my Mach 1 was a casualty of the bad economy. You cant eat a Mach 1 after all. Sad
Its ok. I'm getting closer to actually being able to afford another one, but I'm still nervous about the economy so I'm reluctant to pull the trigger on another Mach. Ive spent the last 7 months paying off credit cards!
Im figuring another 6 months to a year and Ill be debt free except for my house and my Lincoln and my 2010 Mustang. Just paid off my quads! Th_go_smilie_its_yo_birthday

Gone but not forgotten! Undecided
Welcome Flattop!

Glad to have you join with us.

The 16 X 8 rim is a popular choice. A 235 or 245 is a normal choice. Here is an example of Jeff Quinn's car: http://mach1club.com/showthread.php?tid=3423

235 Front and 275 Rear is a popular choice as well although you may want more than an 8" rear rim. There are guys running up to 315 on a 10" in the rear with no modifications (it's all about offset).

To get an idea of what rim size you need use one of the tire charts supplied by folks like Tirerack, Summit or Jegs. Example: http://www.jegs.com/i/BF-Goodrich/131/74...tId=750348

To compare tire sizes you can also use this tool: http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

Have fun making your selection and let us know what you decide. Of course pictures are obligatory. Biggrin
Welcome to the site! I'm running stock 14" wheels on my 73 Convertible, so I have no advice on the 16's. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures.
Welcome. Are you planning on being at the International Mustang Meet in Spokane, Wa. in 2 weeks? It might be an opportunity to see lots of options and talk with the owners.

Steve
Hi I have a 71 351 c M code and I need to replace the carb. It is completely stock, do you have any recommendations with what to replace it with? Thanks
Welcome aboard Flattop! As you can see there is plenty of help here at the site. Personally, I like the 15 x8's Torque Thrust wheels myself but that is me. I am sure you will find the right tires and rims that suit your taste and Steve has already provided you with some great links.

Hey Flattop,

As far as a carb, you'll get varying opinions. I personally like Holley.

I have made the swap on my 2V 351C with and Edlebrock Performer and a Holley but have not gotten as far as enjoying it on the road so I can't give any seat of the pant evaluation.

Jump in with a new thread so we don't hijack this one and I'm sure you'll get plenty of good advice and comparisons.

By the way - keep the factory carb safely stored somewhere.
