I searched the and read where you are supposed to put the thinner side of the weatherstripping on the trunk, then I read where someone said on the 69 70 you put the fat side on the trunk side. So I did, now the trunk will only shut if slammed. So I am in the process of cleaning all the adhesive off and putting thinner side on the trunk. Is this correct? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Shane

Mine is a 69 Mach 1
I will pass this along to the next in line (keeping it current) as I do not have your answer.
Thanks Steven,

In the garage now and I am sick of redoes!

Your welcome how did it turn out?

I havent watched the video just yet but I just re-did mine as well.
I removed the trunk lid altogether and cleaned the surfaces with denatured alcohol and then applied the 3m weatherstripping adhesive, let it dry till tacky then applied it with the fat side to the outer area.

I used masking tape at the corners until the adhesive set.

It came out perfect.
The new seals make you have to shut it harder than you are used to im sure until the seals crush down to fit and seat into place.
I like mine that way as I want no water in the trunk.

Good luck.Biggrin
Hey guys, thanks for all the help! It ended up turning out great! I ended up with the fat side of the seal shutting to the trunk. The entire rear end of the car is new so once I shut the trunk I got underneath since the gas tank is out and had a buddy pour water. Had a few leaks from low spots in the new trunk frame. I used a rubber mallet to massage it out. Worked great, looks great! Thanks for all the help!
