SSig_helpI have a 72 mach 1 R code. I was wondering what is the best way to clean and polish the case on the rev limiter? It is a little rusty and tarnished and was wondering the best way to clean and polish it without spending $400 for a new case. Thanks in advance for any and all responses. It is at the end of the snorkel on the air cleaner in the attached photo

Over here in Australia we have a product called Ranex RustBuster http://www.bondall.com/rustbuster/Ranex_Rustbuster.html , it is the ducks nuts. I don't know if you can get it over there but it is amazing. I have an arcade table machine from the 1980's and the legs always rust on them. I cleaned them up with this stuff and steel wool and they came up almost like new. I had a friend over and he was looking at it and he asked me if I had bought new legs for it. He couldn't believe that they had just been cleaned up.

I didn't have a photo of before and after but the two clean pieces in the photo were like the rusty bottom piece that I put with them as a comparison but with a lot more rust and they cleaned up well.

I'm not sure about the availability of the product Steve O mentioned but I'll attest to steel wool and elbow grease. Maybe use some steel wool and CLR and have a go at it.
Hi guys, thanks for the responses. I will probably use the steel wool ans elbow grease method and see if I can get it in shape. I really appreciate the info. Thanks Jeff
I used a Dremel tool with the small wire wheel brush to clean up a lot of the bare metal under my hood. Here is a before and after for the circuit breaker on my starter solonoid (the solonoid and regulator are new in the second photo):
