This past Thursday I travelled south from our town of Magdalena, where my family and I live and work as missionaries, to the capital city of the state of Sonora, Mexico to help out a church with some building modifications. I had come across this junk yard last month while I was there that deals mainly in old stuff and had snagged a brake proportioning valve for my son's 71 Maverick. I had predetermined to try to make a trip back and see if I could find any other interesting parts for my many projects. I found this late 60's LTD with what appeared to be an original 70,000 miles. It was a complete car and very well taken care of before it had obviously been mothballed a long time ago. I found it to be a great donor for an FMX.
Sounds like a good find. Do you have to remove or did they help!
The thrill of the hunt - I got to remove it myself! I'm the guy in the brown shirt. The man in the green shirt is an associate (Mexican) pastor that went with me to enjoy the time. Thankfully we haven't passed the 105 degree mark yet.

It's always nice to have a friend along, even if they only hand you the tools.
Okay, so I now have a few questions. This appeared (very obviously) to be an original transmission to the 1969 LTD that I pulled it from here in Mexico. It is a C9ZP7006A. C = 60's, 9 = 1969, Z = car line (Mustang), P = Ford service part (Auto Trans), 7006 = Basic part #, A = original style. I cannot find a letter for the LTD car line and so I imagine that they used the Mustang line. My tail housing is 16 1/2".

So my questions: # 1 - Does anyone know if this shift linkage looks like the right one and is clocked correctly for my Mach 1 (console shift) and # 2 - is this the correct length for the tail housing for a Mustang?
Hi Steven when I get home tonight I will see if I can get under my car and see anything.
Thanks Steve O.

I cleaned on it some more today. One more good rinse tomorrow and she should be clean as new. I hope to change the filter and gasket, paint a little and have her ready for our next trip out to the states so that I can put it in while we are there. I appreciate the help.
It appears to me that the trans. is currently set up for a column shift. I believe the lever(for a floor shift) should be pointing to the one o'clock position. This one is opposite. (seven o'clock)
Steven the pictures aren't the best but they might be some help.

Thanks Steve O,

That shows what I need to know. Looks like I need to change my shifter arm.

It looks as though your passing gear shift down linkage is disconected on yours. It is a linkage that runs from the carb linkage to the second arm with the pin on your transmission.

Thanks again for the help.
