has anyone tried fitting 2004 mach 1 wheels on a 71 mach 1?
they are the modern / larger version of our beloved magnum 500s so would make a good track day wheel if they fit.
I'm looking for an cheap alloy wheel in a 17inch or larger for use on the track or drag day and have seen the eleneour type wheels available for around $ 2oo each.
Does anyone have any experience or recomend any cheap aftermarket wheels that will fit?
Any ideas would be great.

Sorrydontknow
I had an extra set of 04 Mach 1 wheels that I tried on my 73 Mustang Convertible with factory disc brakes. But the wheel barely touched the steering link. They would probably work with a spacer, but not sure. Here are a couple of pics I took (these were before I rebuilt the brakes). I went with the Ford Factory Aluminum Wheels that were offered on the 73 Mustangs:

So the bolt pattern was the same?

Yes, same bolt pattern. In the first picture you can see the studs in the bolt holes.
Thanks for the pics, that certainly explains it.
I agree with you - the 5 slotters look great on your convertible.
I have found a set of KMC wheels on line that should fit no problem so these should do the job ont track days.
Cheers

just to make sure, I've found a set of 16" 2006 mustang cobra style wheels.

I should be able to fit these on my 73 mach, with some spacers?
Not sure, the stock 2003/04 Mach 1 wheels are 17 inch.
