Mach 1 Club

I got this idea from sitting in my Mach 1 and reading about it on forums.

There are huge blind spots in the car. I plan to drive this car once it is finished. I don't plan to sell it or restore it to factory specs but make it my own.

So...... What about putting cameras into the car like the back up systems? I would put one in the rear and incorporate 1 in each quarter panel somehow.

I have started some research into monitors and cameras. They do make monitors that are able to display 4 cameras on the screen at once. They make a license plate bracket with camera in them and some pretty small cameras that would work for the quarter panels.

I would mount them pretty low in the quarters thus giving me side visibility changing lanes and the rear for backing up.

Is this a crazy and stupid idea or might be a cool feature to explore?

There is a post about this subject and pictures of such a camera that a Mustang owner installed. I saw this post last year and went to Wall mart and bought one. It is wired into the backup light so the camera only comes on when you are in reverse. It also has a navigation system. I had thought about mounting it in the cubby above the gauges on my 71 Mach 1.
Well sounds like that could be a good idea, but for me, it would be one of the last expenses I would lay down after all the other money the Mach 1 probably eats up first. I can tell you the license plate bracket monitor sucks.

I have an 08 Navigator with the back up camera, I don't know what the difference this one has over aftermarket but I can tell you the OEM one works great. So maybe find in your junk yard a wrecked Navigator and snag that camera system out of it, might get it on the cheap to.
Good tip.
