Hi all,

Currently restoring a 1970 Mach 1. I am close to wanting to paint the insides of my sport lamp housings and tail light housings. I have read many threads that refer to sport lamp housings and am now confused. I am under the impression that the original finish inside the sport lamp housing is a kind of plating process finish. If you were to replicate this finish via painting what color would you choose. I pose the same question for the brackets that hold the sport lamps and the inside of the tail light housings.

Thanks in advance

p.s. my mach was built at Metuchen Dec 5/69
Not sure about your 70, but on my 73 tail lights I used a flat white plastic paint to paint the inside of the housings. From advice that I have read in various places the general recommendation is not to use a gloss paint, the flat give off a more even reflection and a warm glow. I'm not at home, but in a few days I can check on the paint brand and exact color that I used. Here is a before pic, somehow I forgot to take an after pic before I reassembled the taillights. Good luck.
