What makes the 1973 Fenders not the same as 1971?

I have 2 nice 73 fenders....and dang I'd like to use them....

The 5 mph bumper regulations came into effect for the 73 model year and affected both the front bumper and rear bumper. 73 front bumpers won't work on a 71 - 72. The repro rear quarters work with a little tweaking. Most other sheetmetal is the same.

The sheet metal was reshaped and lenghtened to match the new bumper. And the marker lights were relocated from where they were on the 71/72. You can use the 73 fenders with the 73 bumper. It's a pretty common thing. Personally I like the 71/72 grille and bumper best.
