Do you drive a Nissan Titan, Pathfinder, Frontier, Armada, Xterra, Cube or Infiniti QX56? Was it built between August 2003 and July of 2006? Roughly 762,000 people in the U.S. and Canada can answer “yes” to that question, and worldwide the number jumps to some 2.1 million. If you’re one of them, expect to get a recall notice from Nissan in the coming weeks, to replace a potentially faulty ignition relay.

Should the ignition relay fail, the car will either stall or fail to restart, increasing the risk of a collision. Nissan has not reported any accidents or injuries relating to a failed ignition relay, which includes a wider range of vehicles in Japan and in the EU. On a per car basis, the repair is simple enough, with Nissan estimating no more than 25 minutes per vehicle; as a whole, it represents the third largest recall in Nissan’s history.

Customers will be contacted by Nissan via mail, but those experiencing ignition problems should schedule a service appointment as soon as possible. In the United States, customers with questions or concerns can reach Nissan’s customer service at (800) 647-7261; in Canada, customers can reach Nissan at (800) 387-0122.
