How many times did you hear about a renegade mechanic somewhere, who took a customer's more or less exclusive ride for a spin and ended up destroying it? Quite a few times, right? Now, how many times did you hear about an otherwise established tuner doing the same thing? Not that often, we know...

Most of you know a little something about the Ford GT, a car considered by many the embodiment of American supercars. Unfortunately for the owner of one of such beauties, the tuner to whom he turned to for some minor tweaks was not so considerate.

Ray Hofman, the owner of a once fine looking Gulf baby blue and orange livery Ford GT decided to have the car tweaked prior to an event he was about to attend. So he took it to Discovery Automotive, a not-so-famous, yet somewhat experienced tuner.

For some reason or another, Bill Knobloch, the man behind Discovery Automotive, decided to take the car for a drive on a makeshift drag strip. The result of his run can be seen in the photos of the Ford GT taken after the drive.

The story is causing quite a debate on several forums, including Bimmerboost and Ford GT Forum, where, alongside the people posting their opinions, Ray Hofman and Bill Knobloch do battle. One, the owner, says the tuner announced he was taking the car for a drive, but later only said the car suffered a minor crash. The other, Knobloch, says he inexplicably lost control of the car, pointing to some type of a mechanical issue.

But the truth behind this is not our concern and we'll let them settle it. What we feel for is the fact that another one of these beauties was pretty much trashed.

People do not respect the trouble you can get into driving one of these if you do not know what the @#$% you are doing. I know an owner of one and he respects the power of the car but obviously he is extremely picky about anyone that drives it.

That's my 72 sprint behind it.

That Just Plain Sucks to destroy a beautiful car such as this. I agree with the guy who said If you don't know what you're doing. The sad truth is that this car is more capable then probably 97% of the average drivers out there. Maybe even more. I've been about 150 in and old 71 Mach1 and it was on the ragged edge I just don't believe the average mans abilities are up to a vehicle thats capable of 200 + MPH.Naughty
PS. I'd like to try!
