A fellow Mustang restorer sent me a parts question today(Feb 23) and I sent him a response. I thought I'd post it up here for any other people out there looking for Mustang Body Metal such as a rear frame rail. My car is pretty solid in the rear except for the quarter panel skins so I won't be replacing much of that metal. Others may need to though so I hope this helps.

1969 Mustang Rear Frame Rail Question:

I came upon your website concerning your mustang. I am restoring a 1969 mustang R code. The car needs a rear passenger frame rail. I noticed you had to replace the front frame rail. Where did you get your replacement frame rail and were you happy with the quality of it? There are numerous places to get them with numerous price differences. If you could let me know, that would be great.
Nice progress on the car!
Thanks
Bob

My Response

Hi Bob,

I purchased my frame rail from John's Mustang they're not always the cheapest but they've been easy to work with and they're in Texas and close to Baton Rouge. The frame rail worked out fine and I was happy with it.

I would take a look at North Coast Mustang as I recently purchased a used strut rod from them for much cheaper.($15 salvaged vs. $60 new) Their prices are reasonable and they might have a salvaged part that you'd be happier with. Also you might look at Ebay listings with the search term "mustang frame rail". You may be able to find a deal.

The price differences are strange and I haven't quite figured that myself. I've heard that some prices are much cheaper because the part was manufactured overseas, etc.

Good Luck,
Jerry Wayne Odom
