So as long as I've had the car, I've never been able to figure out how a full size/mini tire goes in the trunk, or how you're supposed to fit it,lol

I mean my car's got that big metal bracket in the trunk, but it's just something I've never been sure of. And I've asked other 71-73 owners that I've met, but they otherwise have a full size (w/ no trunk divide/wall) or don't have one in there at all.

So how do you guys fit one in?
I have a 235/60R14 for a spare. Even with the fold down seat it fits but I can not bolt it down with the jack etc. - that's where the space saver spare goes. Of course I have no problem with the 72 sprint conv with the original F70-14 spare.
I have the full inflater bottle ,space saver F-70/14,and scisser jack in my trunk.I will post pics later when I get home from work. Also the regular 14" will fit . There is a spare tire j hold down that you can buy.

kind regards
patrick
thanks for that photo, I was wondering about this issue too.Wave
So where would one go to come up with this space saver rim and spare? I have not seen one advertised in my parts books. I sure would not want to leave the car on the side of the road !!!
Space saver spares are only available used. Hard to find and pricey.
They are pretty much a show piece.
I would not recommend using one if you had a flat.
1- It is a 40 year old tire
2- once you use it, you rarely can get it to fold up right.
3- expensive spare, flatbed tow would be cheaper.
If you use the car as a driver, might pick up a late model "mini spare"
Don
Thank you,

Fair enough - I will find a mini spare that will work and keep motoring.
