Tuning 2004 Mach 1
#1
Anyone been playing with tuners for 2004 Mach1 5sp manual?? Was looking to put a tune on my Mach. Heard Steeda is best for Ford Mustangs?? Can anyone shed some info on that, or what is best?

What mods do you have? From what I've heard unless you have long tubes or some serious mods the tune really doesn't give you much, and honestly I always recommend a custom tune. Now I have heard that the knock sensors are overly sensitive from the factory and that can be tuned.

Tuning for more power on a normally aspirated engine is VERY limited until you start changing/modifing mechanical components.
Anti reversion headers, custom exhaust, ported and gasket matched intake, clean, polished, de-burred and balanced in all the right places will make it worth while to get a custom map in your ECU set up on a dyno.
Until then - keep your money. BTW 100hp/ltr is long term road reliable. Over that engine life goes down.

Well I may be comparing apples to oranges, but I have a 2008 V6 Mustang with a Diablo sport tuner with the 87 octane tune, lowest tune available. Wow Shock talk about woke the little filly up!!! Gears Now I'm not sure if Diablo Sport has a tuner for the 2004. But for seat of your pants power you can feel? It was the best bang for the buck I've ever spent. Added more horses then, a cam , 4 barell, and headers, back in the old days. Absolutely staggering and took all of an hour at the most. Just type in Diablo Sport tuners and find the actual website and see if they cover your 2004. It'll be well worth your time.
I have full GT duals and I'm about to install a cold air intake, to finish it off . Now that gas has gone down I may try out the 91 octane tune and see what happens. I'm getting giddy just thinking about it. Good Luck JTS 71 Mach1

Not much help here, My 04 Mach 1 has it's stock tune. My son's 01 Bullitt has a Predator tune he is happy with and my step-son has a Diablo tune on his 04 Mach 1 that he is happy with, but no hard data for comparison.

The JLT CAI on my 04 Mach seemed to pep it up.
