Do I have the wrong spoiler?
#1
Hello All!   When I bought my 1971 mach 1, I got a spoiler with it that had never been on it.  The trunk had no holes, and thus never a spoiler.
So I drilled holes and put it on.  It visually looks like a mach 1 spoiler, but the base seems wrong.  The trunk is FLAT, but the base of the spoiler is CURVED.
Its kinda hard to see in the picture, but where the spoiler hits the trunk, there is a gap at the front and back where it curves up.

So my question is, what spoiler is this ACTUALLY for?  A 1969 mach 1?  A different ford altogether?

You could be correct as the 69/70 trunk lid was not completely flat, as is the 71-73. Is it an original Ford part? If so looking up the Ford part number should tell you what year it is correct for. If it doesn't have a Ford part number (probably located inside of the stanctions or the bottom side of the spoiler itself) then it's probably an Aftermarket piece that's fits, God only knows what ???

Hope it helps

Thanks for the reply.  Yeah I guess that would make sense then.  I don't know if it as an original Ford part, but I don't believe it's aftermarket.  Don't other Ford models have spoilers similar to the mach 1?  I could take it off and see if there is a part number, but maybe in the summer LOL.  Its in storage right now.  I hope its not aftermarket, whatever it is, just sayin'!

Hey Jonner

I think the Torino Taledega, and the Mercury Cyclone, may have used the same spoiler as the Mach1's. Not 100% sure, but they had flat trunk lids, similar to the 71-73 Mach1's. So no help there. If I had to guess it would be a 69-70 Mach1 spoiler. It looks the same, and I believe the stanctions, are the only difference. Hope it helps maybe someone will chime in with some more knowledge???

Hope it helps.

Interesting.  I kinda thought that they were used on other cars, but if the trunks are flat then I guess that doesn't make sense.  Maybe it is a 69 mach 1 spoiler.  That would make the most sense!

Thanks.  -Jonner B

Really?  LOL.  Yeah its -10 most days or colder.  Today is a bit warmer (+5) which is surprising.  We can bundle up but its cold on the hands to work on cars, and mine is covered in storage all winter so its hard to take pictures.  Funny the differences!

45 Degrees!?!?!?  DANG THATS HOT!  Even here, a nice warm summer day is 25 degrees C.  30 would be considered hot.
