Quick question, need help identifying if my motor is in fact original stock. Its a 1973 VIN has H code. This is the serial on the motor: D3AE 8425 CA
What kind of motor is it?
Thanks.

Do you have any pictures? The D3 in the casting number is for 1973. So it is at least year correct. There should be part of the VIN stamped on the engine block (not cast into the engine block). Not certain where it is. It definitely won't be in an easy to find place.
There should also be a date code cast into the block, it is 4 characters. On the right side of the block near the starter area. If the date code on the block precedes the cars mfg date it's more than likely the original motor. Here is a link to some info of how to read date codes.

David it would seem to be a 351C 2V -- BUT, it would help to see a picture and to know exactly where on the motor you found that number because it is a bit conflicting.
The partial VIN number will be on the back of the motor on the passenger side and and as stated above - it will be a stamped number - not cast.
