You mean, I'm not allowed to say, "Camar...?!"  OK, I guess I'll just hafta refer to it as, "Her Car," from now on.   Thumbup

CCinPA:

If you are having difficulty loading pictures it is probably because of the picture size.  Go to your photo gallery where you store your pictures on your computer and select the picture you want to upload.  On your toolbar in the edit tab you should see "Resize".  Click this button and resize your picture to a smaller picture like 640x640.

Then come back to your post here in the forum and click, the browse button, select the picture you resized,  then click "add attachment", then click "insert into post" button.  Finally, click the "Post" button.  This should work for you.

I added a photo just so I know my instructions are correct (not my car just a cool picture):

Let me know if you are still having problems.

Yeah... that doesn't look familiar to me at all.   Cool

Here's mine the day we loaded it up and sent it off the painter.  Yours is gettin' pretty dang close to that point, I'd say.  It would probably be a a good idea to at least load up the suspension, steering, and wheels, so the painter can have an easier time moving it around.  While it's at the painter, finish up the engine and get the transmission rebuilt, and go through your inventory of parts so you'll have it all organized when it gets back from paint (which will save a lot of time during reassembly as well).

Folks...

I spoke to three shops this morning about completing the restoration.  And a few others that are not interested in completing the work.  Apparently there is a high-demand for restorations in my area.  Therefore, there is a backlog of folks who want the same. What was nice to hear, was their passion and honesty to the craft.

They were kind of enough to converse with me to determine the current state of my Mach-1.  Then, run down of a list of what still would have to be done.  Which of course ending in the cost to finish.  For me, the scale tipped too far to the financial side to continue.

My heart hurts to think about it... But I believe it will be best to sell it; Then put the experience in the past, and focus on the two Jeeps  I have.

What is comforting is the way you-all understand my situation.

I didn't mention to any of the folks this morning about selling, as I didn't want to muddy-the-waters.

If you-all are interested in completing this journey with me.. How do you recommend I move forward with the sell?

Thank you.

I wish I was closer to you... I'd actually consider taking on the project of putting it all back together myself - for cheap.  Like I said earlier, once you get it back from paint & body, it's all downhill from there and should go pretty quick.

I totally understand where you're coming from, and why you're thinking the way you're thinking.  It's never easy making these kinds of decisions, because once the buyer drives away, regret will settle in, and then you'll wish you had it back.

Unfortunately, I don't have any advice to offer regarding sales, since I've never been in that position (selling a project car).  Good luck with it - I hope it all goes how you want it to.

Wow another loaded question.

Sorry it's gone to far for you. But never having had an abundance of money, I have always seemed to have enough to get by, and my Hot Rods had to do duty as the family car as well. Picture a 500HP,  71" Mach1 as a family car. It got 10 miles to the gallon period, no matter how you drove it.

So I never could have considered a"Full Restoration".
I'm in the middle of a 89 "Jacobra" which is the marriage of an 89 Jaguar XJS, and a 460 from a 71 Lincoln, It is a huge undertaking, as I've found out. I have the skill set to do "everything" myself. Which when I'm done will translate to about 4 or 5 thousand dollars invested. The sad part is I've considered throwing in the towel more then once, and have still considered it within the last week, or so. I'd guess were of similar age, I'm 61. So length of time left???? etc. Have made me think differently then I did several years ago.

As far as selling a project, I've looked at mine several times. Money put in, and time (blood sweat and tears), and quickly realize someone has to see the value, and potential, of said project. You have one big advantage. Yours is a Mach1 ! I had 2 Mach1's and a fastback parts car, I had about $2600.00 in all three. I sold them for $4500.00.

In contrast I've got about $2300.00 in 2 Jags, and a 71 Lincoln, and I probably couldn't get a $1000.00 for the whole mess.

I used Craig's List to sell my Mach1's. I put it in all the larger city's within about 500 miles, of me NE. Arkansas. I got a couple calls then, on the 3rd day I talked to a guy who didn't even flinch at my asking price, and came from Nashville Tn. to get all 3 at once. So the potential is there to get some of your  money back, About all you can do is put it out there, and set a value in your mind, and don't give up easily. As Someone out there "wants" a Mach1 !!!  Hope you get it all Back!!!

JTS                 Here's a couple pics of what I had and what I've got now.

I didn't even think about Craigslist... Thank you.

I figure I'll get pennies on the dollar.  Honestly... I'm ready to put this project behind me emotionally.
