Yeah, that's the windshield wiper motor. FYI, drivers side (in the Unites States) is the left side of the car, passenger side is the right side of the car.
Do the wipers work correctly, all speeds? Looks like somebody was creative with the wiring to work around a problem and if you fix the wiring the problem will return.

There's one speed on the wipers, and a couple wires are done with. The water does not work if you press the button. itll just make whining

I'm not familiar with the 1971-1973 Mustangs. But for wiring repair, it's fairly easy to see what wires were cut apart by their colors. When reconnecting wires it's best to solder them together and cover the connection with heat shrink tubing. Even when, for example, you crimp a new terminal onto the end of a wire, solder it after it's crimped and cover the connection with heat shrink tubing. If you repair wiring in that manner, it will last the life of the car. When I install those crimp on connectors, I remove that small plastic cover they come with and use heat shrink tubing over the crimped and soldered connection for a cleaner connection. Plus, the heat from soldering usually melts the plastic a little. You can easily get a soldering gun, solder, and heat shrink tubing at places like Radio Shack and some hardware stores.
