Hey JTS,
That looks like it took more crawling up, under, over, in than what I have left in me! A major accomplishment to be sure.
Thanks for sharing - now what was my excuse again ..?

I know it was???? Uhhhh I think it was??? Or maybe I just needed???? Oh I remember now, it was only one more thing????? But what was that one thing????
Pick one Steven. My wife tells me she has heard them all. To which I assured her she hasn't.

Hey guys, I've got a few more pics, of the DS header which is now 90% complete. All it lacks is finish welding around the head pipes, and aligning the collector so I can point the pipes straight along the transmission. As you can see it came out pretty good for as unique as it had to be. It clears everything and only had to be dimpled in to comlpetely clear the steering shaft. I've been researching header wrap, and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get some of the stuff off ebay. It says it's made of Lava Rock, and will stand 3000 degrees, and withstand 1800 degrees constantly. I never knew there were so many different types. I thought header wrap was header wrap. Oh well it's cold here in Arkansas, I got tired, and gave up for the day. So heres the pics. Once these are completely finished, on to the dash, and wiring. Hope all's well in everybody's world.

I'm looking for somebody to give me some pointers on using Header wrap. What works, what doesn't, and tips to make it all stay in place??? It looks cool when installed, but I know it can't be that easy? I bought 2 - 50 ft rolls, as that is what several articles I've read suggested, it would take to do a set of headers for a V8. Any helps as always is appreciated.

I've never installed that stuff. But I thought they sold stainless steel tie wraps for header wrap. Does that stuff hold in moisture increasing rust on mild steel headers? That's what I use to hear, but that was many years ago.

Yeah it came with the stainless ties but they are a bugger to get tight and make them stay tight. They are not the greatest quality ties. I also have a roll of stainless wire .035" that I'm gonna use. I was just hoping to find someone knowledgeable about the stuff, so I don't step in the proverbial mud puddle. LOL
PS the pipe I'm using is old/used exhaust tubing, and I'm not sure exactly sure what it's made of, but it came from cars in a salvage yard, and all I did was run a wire wheel brush over it, and it came out shiny, after God only knows how many years it hung under a car or truck. So I don't think rusting will be an issue.

Hey JTS, the headers came out really nice. As far as wrapping them, I have no experience but there are how-to videos out there. Here is a link to one I found. Obviously, this guy makes it look easy.

Yeah Mike thanks for the video link. I've watched several, and most of them make it look easy, which tells me they know all the tricks I don't! I 'll figure it out one way or another. Thanks again.

JT Sure thing JTS. What would we do without the internet! I am sure your headers will be more of a challenge to wrap by their uniqueness alone. The how-to videos I watched online they were all wrapping long tube headers with long collectors which give you a better chance of getting a nice tight and even wrap.
Heck, they look good just the way they are. Plus, how much of the header are your going to see once they are installed?
