I have never had a desire to follow Shelby Mustangs so I've got to ask, is there much difference between a late model Shelby and a Mustang GT? Is it simply bolt on performance parts like back in the 1960's?

a late model Shelby will eat a GT. my 13 Shelby has 662 hp. it's so fast I can't keep rear tires from breaking or wearing out fast. My wife's 13 GT is about 425hp

I love the old cars it just gets tiring with upkeep and expense and the difficulty in finding quality parts. I've learned if I can't restore or fix completely myself it's not worth it anymore when Napa and all the parts stores give lifetime warranties because they are cheap parts.

Seems all the parts stores are offering that lifetime warranty, and they pretty much have resorted to that being what they offer up when you walk up to the counter, But they usually have premium, higher quality parts, over and above the "Lifetime Warranty Parts". These are the parts most people want, QUALITY wise, but probably don't want to pay for. I find it hard to believe the cost of the Lifetime warranty parts is low enough they can even afford to do that, offer free replacement ??? The markup must be ridiculous??? Just some thoughts???
PS, Look at Rock Auto and you'll see what I mean they show the lowest price parts and the highest priced ones, and you can compare and decide for yourself, There's only one catch. You have to pay for shipping on most stuff, I think you have to buy more then $100.00 or maybe $150.00??? to get free shipping?

Regarding replacement parts for older cars, I agree, it is difficult to find OEM quality parts. Lifetime warranty offers do nothing for me.

I get Motorcraft from my local Ford dealer as much as possible for our daily drivers. My own daily driver is old by most peoples standards, 1995 F150, so, if Motorcraft parts are no longer available for it, I go to my local NAPA store. NAPA at least often offers lines from manufacturers that are OE suppliers. I've been working on cars long enough to realize even parts from NAPA are not going to last as long as the OEM parts. You have to be selective as to what brand replacement parts you buy. But for myself, that's still not enough to want a new car or truck and a monthly car payment.

Unless you are fortunate to pay cash for a new car purchase, you are either making monthly car payments like most of us would be, or occasionally buying parts to repair an older car. Will todays new cars being driven on average for a daily driver of 35-40K miles per year even last longer than the 5 or so years it takes to pay for one? They are so loaded down with plastic parts that snap into place, and electronics for reasons I cannot wrap my head around, I don't know if they will.

I agree that Things just ain't what they used to be about cars, parts etc. The only personal knowledge I can offer up on newer vehicles, is my 2008 Mustang 4.0 V6 5 spd std.. It was purchased December 31 of 2007. I dressed it out to resemble a GT and hopped it up to about 300hp. That year Gt was 320Hp. It now has 156,876 miles and I've replace the tie rod ends, a plastic thermostat housing, the clutch last month at 156,000 miles, and the rear end bearings??? go figure. Other then that I've driven it like a GT, that I stole off somebody's car lot. I'm in love with it to this day It's a great little car, but there are several little annoyances related to quality. That it does fall short on. But I still Love it!

PS I also have a "1994" Ford F150 !!!
