RE: Looking for Parts
JTS, I have been kind of busy but not too busy. The car has been really friendly as far as taken it apart. It is amazing that not one bolt has given me a hard time.

As far the motor I am swapping with my friend, it is a 302, bored .30 over, forged pistons, ARP studs, windage tray, aluminum 351 heads, and roller cam. The motor is not stroked so I would say it's more hopped up than radical. He bought the car as an unfinished project from his brother and his brother had built the motor. He said he wants to swap with me because the performance in the motor is in the higher rpm's where he typically doesn't drive, which makes sense. It's definitely a huge cost savings for me. He is great guy!

Don't be fooled by the clean bell housing, we bolted that on so we could compression test the motor. I had removed the automatic transmission before it crossed our minds to do this test. Compression checked good in all cylinders.

On Monday, the top loader will come out of the Mustang and the T-10 will go in. As much as I want to keep the top loader in the Mustang I think it will serve the bigger Fairlane much better.

Sorry, although I have a 67 Fairlane Ranchero project going (stalled) for my daughter, I do not have any extras.

In your search if you come across any 67 Ranchero tail lights - give me a shout.

Steve, I am not sure if 68 are the same but I found this on CL:

No the 68 are definitely different. The 67 Fairlane / Ranchero are 1 year only.

RE: Looking for Parts
Happy New Year everyone!!

I spent some time over this long weekend working on the Fairlane. I removed the front end and fenders on Saturday and also cut out a section of the passenger side floor pan which had quite a few pin holes (yes to my disappointment rusted cowl). I fitted the replacement piece in but out of welding gas.

As you can see by the photos there was a good amount of mother nature lurking behind the fenders so I am glad I removed them to clean up the mess. The debris holds moisture!

I also took the top loader out of my Mustang and installed a T-10. I ended trading some fastback parts for it and was pleasantly surprised how it good it felt during the test drive. The top loader will find its way into the Fairlane.

If it's okay with everyone here I share my progress on this project car too. As you can see with the fenders off its just another Mustang!

I thought your first build of your fastback was great, as I've said before you are quite the craftsman, and as you so eloquently put it. It is just another Mustang. Go for it Mike. Maybe you will inspire someone else to get off their lazy duff and get busy. Me included. Thanks JTS 71 mach1

I thought I would share some more progress I made today. I only had one day to work on the car this weekend.

Note to self - "don't allow time constraints to keep you away from this site!"

Wow - I have been missing out on your tremendous progress. I like it!

Thanks for the heads up on the taillights - yes, 67's are a one year only.

I am impressed by how clean your car is. What is it's history?

And by all means, please keep the progress coming.
