Winter Storage
#11
I would refrain from running a car in a closed garage. On the west coast most garages are attached to the house. Plus water heaters and heating furnaces are located in garages. At the very least the house will fill with exhaust fumes.

I agree that running the fuel tank dry or keeping full can be a debatable topic as I have heard people store their cars both ways. I also have heard concerns about condensation when emptying the fuel tank. Since I plan to start the car every 3-4 weeks, as everyone suggested, I will fill my tank at the end of the season and add a stabilizer.

I am not familiar with the benefits or disadvantages of products which contain lead additive but I did learn that Torco Accelerator can boost the octane level from 93 to 101.

Does anyone have any effective home remedies for keeping unwanted rodents from nesting? I have heard dryer sheets work opposed to using moth balls which leave an unpleasant odor behind. I am curious if anyone has any other ideas.

The purrfect solution to rodent control!

Of course I was referring to a garage that is not attached to the house. Carbon monoxide might set off a co detector if you even had one in a detached garage, but it's not going to hurt any systems such as plumbing or heating. My dad did it for years, and so have I - works great. Just hold your breath before you walk in to shut the
car(s) off. Never had problems with mice setting up camp in our detached garages, and we live out in the boonies.

All things I would do / do / have done.
I either put the car on 4 stands or keep the tyres at about 50psi and the battery on a floating charger.

Battery on a floating charger is a good idea. I've used one for about 10 years now on my Mach1. Batteries last a long time on rarely driven cars with them.
