I have really failed to update much lately on my projects because its really time consuming.
Id almost rather look at all of your member posts and read the interesting stories rather than talk about my own problems with the mustangs.
Here are my latest results on things I am working on.
1970 Mach 1 mustang (My car)
After last years 351 cleveland overheating problems and crappy 4 speed shifter being worn out I replaced the engine with a crate engine with a lower power band and replaced the 4 barrel heads with two barrel heads for better torque, I am North of Denver at (5280 feet in elevation) so It was highly needed to get better response with lower external air pressure at these high altitudes. I also removed the long tube hooker super competition headers because they touched the frame in two areas and I was tired of the rattling against the frame.
At 52 years old I want the low end grunt with power steering, and A/c.
I did some trading and did get a hold of two barrel hooker headers for the two barrel heads but haven't put them on yet.
I replaced the 4 speed top loader with a custom built race ready Ford AOD (4 speed automatic transmission and built a brand new OEM original style shifter for it with new chrome parts.)
Its all installed with a deep sump finned aluminum tranny pan.
I ended up taking off the whole front end of the car because everyone that helped me out weighs in at over 250 to 350 pounds and I didn't want any fender dents on the tops of my fenders....lol
I had my shaker assembly powder coated along with an artist job having the valve covers done custom. It came out great in my mind as these are the rare (1970 only ) dripper valve covers.
I just got my instruments back two days ago from (TACHMAN.COM in South Carolina). He custom made me a set of 200 MPH speedometer and new 12 volt tachometer NHRA approved. Its all using original style face artwork on steel backings and (not the cheap decals). I had them done in white face backings as my eyes can see them better and I like the updated look. The clock I had a new Quartz movement installed and all gauge panels were re chromed. Its my car and Ill never sell this car any how.
I am awaiting a new A/C evaporator core from Classic air this week and Ill do the install.
1967 mustang: (sons car) semi show car:
I have over $30, 000 into this car and the 347 stroker is not yet done at the engine shop for it yet.
It has a (68) Shelby style hood and side scoops.
It has the complete interior package for the GT (all brushed aluminum panels and overhead console. New center console and hidden stereo with great sub woofer in the carpeted trunk.
The all aluminum rear louvered tail panel adds to the cool factor for him.
The friggen paint job alone was $9,000 with $15,000 in body work and $3,252 in paint supplies at an extra cost.
Luckily my other 14 year old son only wants a truck when he starts driving (thanks be to that).
2008 Roush stage III (supercharged factory Roush) 427R
Purchased last year for $34,000 with only 14,000 miles on it.
It is only driven on the weekends around the area close to home.
Yes my 19 year old drives it. My own father never let me drive his cars so I purposefully let my family drive these any time they like. They were built to drive them wildly as we only live once and I want to really live life to the fullest.
I attempted to download the new photos from my I-phone 5 and the photos are too large of an attachment I guess.
I then e-mailed them to myself and tried to save as a gif image but it wont let me. I'm sure that Ill most likely need to get some app from the app store to convert these file images first.
