For the Kiddos
#1
I drive a Kia Rio5 back and forth on my 80 mile round trip commute to work. This thought came to mind while I was sitting at work today, so I made this picture. One of the number one reasons why I love my Mach1; my kiddos enjoy it so much too!

THAT'S the spirit!

I was recently on a site where a guy was bragging about his 87 Buick GNX that had something like 300 miles on it. He had only driven it once. What the hell good is that? IMO, there's no bigger waste than not driving a high performance car the way it was made to be driven.

I've always hated those type of people. I'm not driving it to keep the miles down for the next guy. I'm painting it this color not because I like it but I'll have an easier time selling it. I would love to do this modification but the next guy might not like it. Blah, blah, blah! Enjoy it! It's yours! Let the next guy worry about the way he wants it to be.

I'm reminded of a comic I saw sometime back. Not doing what you want to do to your car, house, boat, etc. is like not doing it with your girfriend. What are you saving her for? The next guy after she dumps you?

I agree for the most part...drive and enjoy them. However, a GNX was a collector's item even before the first one sold so it is a little more understandable why that particular car hasn't been thrashed.
If all you want is a nice car that is a bad-ass hot rod, buying the top-line model from any manufacturer is not best bargain for that endeavour.
Any 71-73 Mustang with a 351-2V engine could easily be modified to outperform any stock 71-73 Mustang, even the vaunted 429s and BOSS 351.
The outright performance of even the fastest stock 71-73 is...let's face it...only adequate when compared to top-line modern ponycar performance.
But the collectibilty, rarity and "40 years ago" glimpse of these cars is something the new ones don't have , if they ever will.
My car (71 429 CJ) is fast...for a 71-era car. Only mediocre compared to modern muscle. Hell, even my stock F150 (5.0 litre, 385 horse) can damn near embarrass it in a pure performance standpoint.
I enjoy it for a multitude of other reasons.

I have to admit 'showing a bloke the way home' after being told to "Show him how its done, daddy." She was about 8 at the time. I blame her mother.
