It is interesting to know that the manufacturer did not add the additive. Did they forget or was it not known yet that the limited slips rear ends would require the friction modifier?

I understood they did not know there would be an issue. There was a TSB, technical service bulletin, for the issue. Like I mentioned, it took a few thousand miles before it would start. For a while it seemed there were two or three cars or trucks in the shop each day because of clutch chatter. I don't know if clutch chatter was an issue on late 60's early 70's cars and trucks. I'm not quite old enough to have been working on them back then.
Believe me, there were a lot of issues that popped up after the cars were on the road for a while. There were many binders filled with TSB's. The general public only gets notified of safety related issues.
