You need an oil with high ZDDP (Zinc dithiophosphate) content because of the flat tappet style cam and lifters in these older motors. If not, you risk damaging a cam lobe ruining the camshaft. I'm not certain why, but ZDDP content was significantly reduced in todays motor oils. To eliminate the need for high ZDDP content a roller style cam and lifter setup is needed. There are a few oils that have high ZDDP content. A popular choice for these older cars is Valvoline's conventional (not synthetic) VR1 Racing oil. 10W-30 should be fine if your motor is not worn out. If it is worn and the cause of your low oil pressure warning light issue, I would try a 20W-50. I like 10W40, but it's not available in Valvoline VR1 Racing oil.
There are also ZDDP additives, but I haven't tried any.
Best Regards,
Mike

NY is more or less same as UK, guess where I'm from.
My $0.02 is 20w-50. Cool most of the time and an older engine. Don't forget to check the existing pump clearances and even the bearing clearances before you make any final decision.

Yeah I also think that now you should replace you water pump. I would recommend investing in the honda water pump. I am also using it and completely satisfied from its working. The features are just tremendous.

I ended up buying a new water pump. I just finished doing a rebuild with some help and just put the engine back in. Hope to finish by middle of july.
