Hey Jcobb, Not to hurt yours or anyone's feelings BUT! in Arkansas. It doesn't cost anything to "title" a car antique. You simply purchase antique plates, about
$30.00, and they are permanent. Trailer plates are 19.00 and are permanent. It costs $19.00 to license a motorcycle, and about $29.00 to license the average car or truck. Last time I checked Vanity plates were I think $100.00. We do have a personal Property tax, I have 6 vehicles on it, including my 16 ft car trailer. That all runs about $130.00 / year. Of all the things I have to complain about Arkansas. They got the car licensing thing down right.
My son lives in Illionis and it cost around $200.00 a year, just to license each vehicle! OUCH! I was going to give him a car once, and he said don't bother I can't afford to license it. To transfer the title and license an out of state vehicle. He said it would cost around $500.00 Bucks! Just some food for thought. JTS

No hurt feelings at all. Its interesting to see what other people have to spend to keep a classic car.
Also something to think about before moving to another state. Not moving to Illinois any time soon.

Yeah I'm not moving to Illinois any time soon either. In fact I left there over 30 years ago for several reasons.

I love your restrictions - or lack of them.
The next show for me is York (east of Perth) 2nd July. I will take my TRAIMLER and then send it in for paint. I just hope the weather holds. Just without rain will be great for me.
I will photo any worthy vehicles as you all seem to enjoy them.

Those are some crazy fees!
My older vehicles cost me about $25.00 a year and my newer ones (2005) cost about $70.00
The trailer was a permanent plate and I don't remember how much it cost but it was minimal.

Still waiting for my paint guy. He always has an excuse.
Great paint but REALLY BAD at time!
I might get it back early in the New Year. He claims everybody loves it and wants to photo it. So what!!
I just want to tow and use it!

Good to have an update.
Here's hoping that your paint guy will get it in gear and do a great job!

I'm by no means a painter, but hey, why not give it a try yourself? I've painted a couple. The results were good, and a little better each time I've tried it. The sweet part is if you don't like it you can sand it back down and try again. Each time you learn something. Eventually you'll be as good as your painter guy??? Probably not, but you'll be a little richer, then having paid for a high quality paint job. Just some food for thought. Hope it helps.

Unfortunately, that is typical when you're really good at doing something...everyone wants you.

Thanks for the thoughts!
I have tried spraying but got very iffy results. Always dust and stuff you never see or notice attracted to the drying paint.
Although I have a reasonable gun I will stick to aerosol size jobs. I did take a photo or two of his progress so over the holiday I will post them and some I took at local car shows. The local Studebaker Club has some very nice, restored vehicles. Now you know where the good ones went!
