I have a 69 mach 1 grill with 2 provisions for a for a running pony decal, I know the pony runs on the right, but whats the identical left provision for. The grill is the original for the car.
Can anyone shed some light on this one?

Mine is on the left (drivers side). I'll look at mine again later, but I don't recall any tabs or brackets on the grill for mounting the running horse badge when I had it apart for paint. There is a small formed rectangular metal backing plate and the grill is sandwiched between the running horse badge and the metal backing plate. It can be mounted almost anywhere but I reinstalled back into the original location.

My mistake I meant mounted the left, Mine has a moulded area for the badge on the left and the exact same molded area built in on the right.Just looks different from the new ones I see..

I took another look at mine. Honestly, I don't see any special provisions for the running horse badge. I am 100% certain my grill and badge are still original to my 69 Mach 1. If either were ever replaced, it was long before aftermarket pieces were available.
Does your running horse badge have the formed rectangular metal backing plate I mentioned in my earlier post? It goes on the inside of the grill. The grill is sandwiched between the badge and backing plate.

noroz, I have one of the Ford chrome '69 grilles and a repro black grille. Neither have any mounting points for the emblem. It does just sandwich the grille between the emblem and the rectangular backing place. Check your grille closely for the Ford oval logo and a part/engineering number. Dave R.

I agree with Mike. The grill in our Mach 1 is original and the pony is clamped in position, there is no molding in the grill.
