Hi All,not sure if I've posted this in the right place but I need to replace the rear quarters, trunk floor and tail light panel on my 73 convertible, any ideas who supplies the best repro panels that might actually fit without too much messing around? I've had front fenders and a ram air hood from MU and NPD in the past but they weren't the best of fit!!
Thanks Steve

Steve I went through this in the past when looking for my Nasa Hood. From what I understand all repro parts are made in Taiwan, then it comes down to quality control (QC). Some companies that sell these parts do a poor job on QC.
With all that being said I have heard Dynacorn makes the best parts and does a good job with QC. However, any of these parts you buy from a repro company are going to require some modifications.
Frankly if it was me, I would stay on the hunt for Ford Originals. Keep an eye out on Craigslist and go to any parts swap meets. It took me a month, but I finally found someone that culd fix my Nasa Hood. Unfortunately in the body world people that do this job, have given up on the craftsmanship aspect for repro parts.
Have you checked with the Mustang Club you belong to for parts?

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately I'm in the UK and most of the Mustang stockists over here don't keep many 71-73 parts
Any idea what the panel fit from either Laurel Mountain or CJ Ponyparts are like? I know there are a few NOS bits that appear on Ebay but the cost of shipping would probably double the price then I have to pay import duty @ 4% then VAT @17.5% on the total value of everything including shipping

Ya the overseas part is probably the biggest negative you guys face when doing these projects.
Let me know if I can help somehow.

It's great to see another member with a 73 Convert!
My 73 is currently in the body shop getting its very first re-paint after 37 years! I was fortunate and did not need any sheet metal; except that I decided to have the tail light panel replaced because of rust around the tail light assembly’s. I remember when the car was new in 1973 the factory paint was very thin around the tail lights and you could even see primer!
Anyway, I bought my tail light panel from CJ Pony parts. They shipped immediately and it arrived well packed with a lot of bubble wrap protecting it. The body shop welded it in and they said they had no problem with the fit. The panel did not have the holes for the black insert trim pieces, but they were easy to drill.
Not sure about how their quarter panels or trunk floors fit.
I've ordered about 90% of my restoration parts from CJ's over the last three years and have been very happy with their service. They did have an occasional backorder but were quick to respond to my inquiries. I've also asked them questions on their own CJ Forums. They usually respond within 24 hours.
Good luck with your restoration and post up some progress pics!

Thanks for the reply,my tail light panel is the worst bit but I may need bottom rear quarters rather than the whole quarters which may make life easier.I'll post up some before and after pics once done. Thanks for posting the pictures of yours it gives me an idea of what I need to do to mine.
