We all have seen the factory Horse Power ratings for various 351C's (1972 Q code = 266 h.p. etc. etc.) What I wondered was if anyone has had their 351c equipped Mach 1 on a Dyno. If so what mods. where done on the engine? What kinda numbers did you pull? I've got "Desktop Dyno" software but it's not real world accurate.
I appreciate any and all input, be it positive, negative, or just to say "It's none of your D**n business.
Your friend, Keith

My daughter's 351c '70 is due for a dyno run.
Vehicle is stock other than the Autolite ditched in favour of 4bbl Holley.
Can't remember model but will post it when I've looked it up and have some power figures. Numbers on power may be skewed by the FMX, much more reliable connection with a manual box.

1971 351- 4V, four speed manual trans, numbers matching engine and drivetrain. (just so you know how to reference this info.) Engine mods are as follows: Stock rotating assy. .030 oversize speed-pro pistons, stock 10.7 to 1 compression ratio, high volume Melling oil pump. Stock balancer. Heads are stock 4-V's with a three-angle valve job, port-matched and minor polishing. Stock cast iron intake, Bolduc Performance race-prepped Holley 670 CFM double pumper. Camshaft is a Crane 278 (can't remember specs. but it's a mild grind).Stock rocker arms, but valve springs replaced with Crane units (per recommendation).Rhoades anti-pump lifters, Stock Autolite distributor, stock fuel pump, stock ignition except Mallory 40,000 volt coil. Exhaust is Hooker super comp headers mated to stock pipes through flowmaster mufflers. Initial timing set at 12 degrees BTDC. Fuel is 93 octane unleaded with lead substitute and 104 Octane Boost. Result: 290 rear wheel horsepower at 5600 rpm. Torque maxed out at 393 / 2990 RPM. No adjustments made between 3 dyno runs to try to better the numbers, and the engine temps. were higher than usual even with 2 huge fans aimed at the grille. I thought the numbers would be a little higher, but that's all she wrote. GXR

GXR,
Those are some pretty strong numbers for a street machine real world at the rear wheels H.P. & Torque. As expected the high R.P.M.= Horse power and lower R.P.M.=torque!
Thanks for sharing,
Keith S.
P.S. What rear end ratio are you running?
