Howdy all,
I just picked up my '71 Mach 1 this past weekend. I guess you would call this a "barn find", even though I've known where it was for some time. My cousin's best friend purchased this car about 25 years ago, and it has sat in the same place for the past 18. The engine was inside his shop, and needs a rebuild, but it is all in the plans. Plans are just to get it back to stock and have a nice cruse car.

Glad you found us. Sounds like you got it all figured out. Post some pics when you get a chance. So we can see the beauty, or the beast as it may be? Again Welcome. JTS 71 Mach1

Welcome Michael,
Your plan sounds - well, sound. I firmly believe that the car should be enjoyed first if at all possible and then plans can be made from there. If nothing else it will be great motivation not to have the car off the road any longer than absolutely necessary.
Having known the car for more than half of it's life you should have a really good idea of what you just purchase.
Enjoy - the car and this site!

Welcome to site Michael! Nice find and the car looks pretty clean and straight like JTS mentioned. I am amazed how clean these cars remain in Texas, Arizona, and California. Rarely do you see them like that in up here in the northeast.
Thanks for sharing the pictures and glad you found us!

Boy do I love barn finds! I am always driving with my head on a swivel while out in the country. I've found many good cars that way. Found a '68 S code 4 speed fastback Mustang (1 of 38) in a chicken coop and nearly got eaten by a Rottie when I found a Boss 302 under a lean-to when I stopped to ask for directions when lost one time. I caught a glimpse of the tail light and immediately knew it was a Mustang. Knocked on a door at the house on the property and asked a lady if I could look at it. She said "Sure, It's my brothers". She forgot to mention that he had Rotties...
That looks like a great score - can't wait to see it's restoration !
