Very nice.

Your car shows very well.

Were there any other Mach 1's?

Yes, there were two other 69's...a red M code and a red R code. There were also several, perhaps 10, 1971-73 Mach ones as well. Those years are really becoming popular. No 1970's and nothing newer than 1973 for Mach 1's. The were about 600 cars on the show. Very hot here, (for us), around 100F.

That is one big car show with 600 cars and your car does show very well. I am hoping you walked away with trophy...Just out of curiosity does Canada recognize historical vehicles? I know many of the U.S. States have special registration plates for vehicles over 25 years old.

You have a very beautiful Mach1. As the guys have said it shows very well. You defenetly have one to be proud of. By the way Arkansas is one of those States that has "Antique Plates" I believe it's at 25 years also. The sweet part is you only have to pay for it the first year and it's good forever. JTS 71 Mach1

That's very interesting to see.

I don't normally hear of a good showing of 71-73 Mach 1's.

Once again guys, thanks for the compliments about the car! Canada does recognize older vehicles. We call it the "Collector Plate" program. Like the US, the car needs to be 25 years old and in "exceedingly good original condition" to qualify. If it does, your insurance is under $300/year but you can't do things like drive it to work. There is no shortage of car nuts here in Canada. I am lucky enough to be less than 5 miles from the Washington State border, (Sumas), crossing so having parts shipped to me is easy with a US PO Box. My car was missing a few things like a snorkel and a heat shield. I was able to locate these parts in Chicago and Oregon. The car missing its console as well when I got it...that came from Ohio on Craigslist.

It is always a pleasure dealing with the American people and the world does owe them, (you), a debt of gratitude for keeping the world safe, as you have done for decades. We must never forget this. I enjoy many cold beers with my US buddies in Sumas, WA and buy all of my milk, cheese, beer and gas down there. We are lucky enough to see many US based vehicles up here at shows too.

No, I didn't win a trophy and I didn't really expect to. My reward is owning the thing and meeting a whole lot of cool people like you guys because of it. In fact yesterday after the show I had a young man approach me in a parking lot. He asked is he could take a picture of the car, of course you can I said and I opened the hood and trunk for him. After he took his pictures he bagan to cry. He said that when he was a boy, he and his dad had the exact same car and that they restored it together. His dad died last year at 51 years of age. I am 52. That interaction was worth more than any trophy.

Oops, in CT we say antique plates as well. I don't know why I wrote "historical". We shouldn't talk too loud because the taxing authority may hear us, but here in CT I paid a very affordable $13 a year for my 65 Mustang and I am sure if the car was a 65 Shelby I would have paid pretty close to the same. However, I did hear some political chatter about increasing taxes on classic cars we spend so much $$ on to save from the becoming scrap metal. Let's hope our elected officials don't go down that road to increase their tax base because it will hurt the industry tremendously.
