Sanding and such on the engine compartment is in progress and it sucks!
Just wanted to check and make sure the vacumme canister and bracket in the passenger side corner supposed to be blue? As you can see from the surroundings lots of love is needed. A lot of it is just dirt and such from sitting out for years in windy dusty Oklahoma, but its god slow work. I should have took a pressure washer to it before I got started, but noobs will be noobs. I have everything off of the sidewalls except the Brake booster and associated components. I didn't want to pull that stuff out without my buddy who knows more about things than I do. I figure there is plenty of work on the rest of the areas I can do before there.
Hi Todd, It looks like you found your answer along with another color option if you wanted to stray away from the original factory color.
As far as a being slow work, yes it is, but the end result of engine compartment detail work is very gratifying. Make sure you take before and after pictures then you will appreciate all your hard work that much more!!
T, when you re-assemble - don't connect vacuum to that.
That is not a vacuum can - it is a charcoal canister - vent from gas tank runs to it and the tube from it runs to the air cleaner housing.
Don
Ahh ok it was oddly heavy when I pulled it out but I marked the connection point and hose so I just have to match it back with the hose that has the same number on it.
My latest mystery is a wire that comes from the harness up to the side wall on the top of the wheel well that has a switch on the outside of the inner wheel well. I don't know where it goes because it is wrapped in with all the other wires in the harness and wrapped in tape. I was guessing some sort of external kill switch so no one could steal your car even if they got the key/hotwired it. Any of you guys have any ideas?
I was just curious as to what it could have been for. The switch itself is accessed from the outside under the wheel well and is a simple light switch style switch. I am still sanding and scraping and cussing this engine compartment so I want to get that done before unwrapping wires and making more mess. Don do you guys have some kind of tubing to wrap the wires in or is black electrical tape the age old stand by? I also need to get some of the plastic pieces that hold the wires to the side of the compartment.
