Well sadly those guys must have moved off. Now it seems they are dropping LS motors into mustangs because they are more plentiful and cheaper to get parts for. Transvestite mustangs with Chevy engines.

Anyone that puts a chevy motor in a Mustang. Needs to be stoned to death. I ain't even flexible on this. If you want a Chevy so bad go buy one! But leave our Mustangs alone!!! JTS 71 Mach1

Sorry Mach72 for derailing your post a little. Tell us more about your mach 1 You said there was a lot of work needed done on it when you got it. Did you get it all finished up yet or are you still working on anything?

When I bought the car it ran ok but the back half of the car was in primer, the roof was all beat up. The rear seat floorboards were rusted out. It had the usual rust in the rear quarters at the wheel lip. I cut out the rust in the floor boards and hand fabbed replacements. I worked out the beat up roof. I drove the car for a few years, then I rebuilt the engine (mild build hyd cam-it really didn't need it-I just wanted to rebuild it). I drove it a while, then I started the major body repairs. I replaced the trunk floor, taillight panel, both rear quarters, hand fabbed outer wheel houses (repros weren't available yet). I removed the rocker trim, and welded up the fastener holes. I got the body all primed and blocked out to 320 grit. Somewhere in there I rebuilt the C6 with a wide ratio kit that drops 1st/2nd gear ratios to 2.72/1.54 while keeping 3rd gear stock (a poor mans alternative to an od trans.) I also rebuilt the front/rear suspension and made some subframe connectors, Now all this happened over many years time as money and time allowed. Most of this was done a couple of hours at a time after the wife/kids were asleep. I eventually got the car painted (x 2 by 2 different painters) and got the interior semi-finished. I drove it for a few years, changed to a solid cam-CC heads etc. Then I built a mild 408 C stroker. Still need to finish up a lot of details on the interior. I have 2 daughters that were/are very active in travel fastpitch softball, so I have very little time or money to spend on car. I am a gearhead first and foremost and I tend to work on things to make the car run better, instead of getting the whole car finished. And I can't stand it when people put chevy engines in anything other than a chevy.

Yeah sorry we did get kinda sidetracked. I'm glad to see you're with us about the Chevy engines in something besides a Chevy, especially MUSTANGS! JTS 71 Mach1

Welcome!! I am a Cleveland freak as well. been racing them one way or another for 30+ years, I hate to admit that. My current combo is a stroked Cleveland to 410CID solid roller 11-1/2 to 1 compression beast that I shift at 7200 but pulls hard to 8000 RPM's. Its in a 72 mach 1 4 spd car with 3.89 lightened gears and a lightened Detroit locker in the rear. Built it all myself. Rebuilt all suspension, brakes, trans, rear end & did all the engine work short of the machine work. Engine makes a tad north of 750HP ALL motor. This fall I am installing a set of AFD CNC aluminum heads and they should liven it up even more. I did all body work and paint myself also and built a temporary paint booth in my shop from PVC pipe a large roll of plastic and 13 rolls of duct tape as I hadn't built my permanent one yet. But it worked great. I am not a computer geek and have struggled with pics so far. But I have enlisted the help of my daughter and she is helping me get them ready to post soon. Glad to have you join the group. its a great place to share information and get feedback on ideas or problems. there is a wealth on knowledge here. welcome. YLWHRSE
